‘Art is scientific and magical. This simply seduced me, so I threw myself into abstraction. No illustrations, no realism. My objects are like technical drawings of my emotions.’
Margherita Turewicz-Lafranchi has lived and worked in Bellinzona since 1994. Her sculptures are mostly composed of industrial materials from everyday life elaborated into harmonious introspective creations in a mixture of Arte Povera, Minimalism and Dada readymade. The titles often suggest a way of interpreting the work, which captivates the viewer with its clear yet ambiguous forms. Through occasional humorous wordplays, her artworks direct viewers’ attention to the relativity of things.
